Maintenance Consultant

Position Title: City Maintenance Consultant (Part-Time)


Reports To: Mayor and City Council (coordinates with City Secretary)

 

Purpose of Position:
The City Maintenance Consultant is a part-time employee responsible for monitoring city
roads and related infrastructure, ensuring public safety, and assisting with coordination of
emergency response for storm-related damage. This position works closely with city
leadership to identify maintenance needs and organize appropriate services.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Conduct roadway inspections every two weeks within Gholson city limits to identify:
• Damaged or deteriorating roads
• Downed trees or debris
• Trees posing a risk of falling


• Report findings promptly to the Mayor and City Council.


Remain available during and after storms to:
• Assess safety concerns involving fallen trees or road obstructions
• Ensure the area is secure for work crews

Coordinate necessary services, which may include:
• Contacting tree removal or trimming companies to obtain quotes
• Notifying utility companies regarding downed power lines or other hazards

• Maintain accurate records of inspections, calls, and service requests.
• Communicate and coordinate with the City Secretary on documentation and
scheduling needs.
• Other duties as assigned by the Mayor and City Council.

Requirements:
• Must have a reliable personal vehicle for inspections and site visits.
• Ability to respond promptly during emergencies.
• Familiarity with roadway and tree safety concerns.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.

Employment Classification:
▪ Position Type: Part-Time Employee
▪ Pay: $150 per month
▪ Schedule: Flexible; inspections every two weeks and availability during storms and emergency situations.
